Bomberghen, Daniel III Van

Daniel III van Bomberghen, son of the celebrated Venetian printer, studied both civil and canon law at the University of Leiden. He worked as an editor and printer in Cologne from 1568 to 1570; the following year he moved to Belgium, where he remained until 1584. His brother Charles had entered into partnership with Plantin in order to increase the publishing house’s capital. By virtue of a contract dated 26 November 1563, Christophe Plantin, Charles and Cornelius van Bomberghen (who were cousins), Jan Goropius, and Jacobus de Schotti established a compagnie d’imprimerie.
